SALMON FISH BONES

 

 

So, I went to visit my son and daughter-in-law in Austin, Texas last week and decided to make a new batch of dog bones.  The puppies LOVED them!!!!

 

Here are the ingredients used to make the Salmon dog treats.  You will need the following ingredients: SALMON, TWO EGGS, BACON, APPLE SAUCE, OIL, FLOUR CHEERIOS AND SOME APPLE CHIPS.  (SO YOU KNOW, I DECIDED NOT TO ADD THE APPLE CHIPS)

TAKE TWO HUNKS OF SALMON.  Ok, perhaps I spent too much money on the Salmon, but only the best for your puppies, right?

 

ADD SOME BACON

PLACE THE BACON ON SOME PAPER TOWELS AND PLACE IT INTO THE MICROWAVE.  COOK THE BACON UNTIL CRISP.  I PROBABLY MICROWAVED THE BACON FOR 9 MINUTES OR SO.

THIS IS JUST A VISUAL: IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU STACK THE BACON ON THE PAPER TOWEL....JUST DO IT.  LESS TO CLEAN UP.

I HAD MY SON WARM UP THE STOVE.  THROW IN ABOUT 1/2 CUP OF OIL INTO THE SAUCE PAN.

 

ADD SOME FLOUR...8 CUPS IN ALL.

 

 

START COOKING THE SALMON.

WHILE MY SON WAS BUSY COOKING THE SALMON, I ADDED 2 CUPS OF UNSWEETENED APPLE SAUCE INTO THE BOWL WITH THE FLOUR.

NEXT, ADD SOME CHEESE.  IF YOUR DOG IS A CHEESE MONSTER, ADD ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 2 CUPS OF SHREEDED CHEESE. 

TAKE TWO EGGS

BEAT THE TWO EGGS AND ADD TO THE MIXTURE

YUMMY..

OK TIME FOR THE CHEERIOS.  ADD AROUND 1 CUP OF CHEERIOS INTO A MEASURING CUP.

 

THE DOGS PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THEIR TREATS.

CRUSH UP THE CHEERIOS.  IF YOU DON'T HAVE A POUNDER, TRY CRUSHING THE CHEERIOS JUST USING YOUR HANDS.  IT'S EASY.  CRUSH AWAY.

THE BACON!!! DAMN, DID I OVERCOOK THE BACON?

NAW, THE BACON IS JUST PERFECT..COOKED TO A FINE CRISP...

 

SALMON IS READY!!!!!!

TAKE THE SALMON AND THE BACON WITH 1 CUP OF WATER AND THROW IT INTO A FOOD PROCESSOR.

 

BLEND FOR 1 TO 2 MINUTES UNTIL DONE.

YEP, THAT'S DRACULA WAITING FOR HIS TREATS.

LET THE DOGS LICK THE BOWL.  THEY LOVE SALMON..LOVE IT.

TIME TO MAKE THE DOUGH.

WELL, WE COULDN'T FIND A ROLLING PIN IN MY SON'S APARTMENT SO WE HAD TO IMPROVISE USING A WINE BOTTLE.  IT WORKED GREAT.  SEE FOR YOURSELF.

CUT THE SALMON FISH BONES INTO PIECES.  AS USUAL, I USED A PIZZA CUTTER.

THE HARDEST PART OF THIS PROCESS IS WATCHING YOUR PUPPY GIVING YOU THE PUPPY EYES..."WHERE ARE MY SALMON BONES?"

PLACE THE SALMON DOG BONES ONTO SOME COOKIE SHEETS AND PLACE INTO THE OVEN.

YOU WILL WANT TO BAKE THE BONES FOR 50 MINUTES AT 350 DEGREES.

AND NOW WE HAVE THE SALMON DOG TREATS.  NOT ONLY DO THEY SMELL DELICIOUS, BUT THEY TASTE PRETTY GOOD TOO.  I SHOULD KNOW, I ATE HALF A COOKIE.  NOT BAD..

CHICKEN CORN PET TREATS...Homemade healthy recipes.

 

Here are the main ingredients.

 

 

 

Chicken broth; ground chicken; corn; eggs, honey and oat granola; coconut oil; cinnamon; salt; flour; molasses..(beef broth is optional)

ok, so lets get started with the chicken.  Bake some chicken breasts in beef broth for about 90 minutes (at 350 degrees) with some cinnamon and sliced apples.

The end product should look something like this.

I decided to cut the chicken into pieces and dehydrate it for 8 hours.  If you prefer to just slice up the chicken and forego the dehydration process...Go ahead.  It will definitely save you some hours of cooking.

CRUSH THE CHICKEN INTO LITTLE BITS.

 

 

 

 

THAT'S IT.  KEEP CRUSHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

OK, SO LET'S CONTINUE..

 

START WITH 4.5 CUPS OF FLOUR

 

 

 

 

ADD ONE CUP OF OAT AND HONEY GRANOLA.

 

 

 

ADD 1/4 CUP OF CINNAMON

 

 

ADD 1/2 TABLESPOON OF SALT.

 

 

 

 

BEAT UP TWO EGGS AND THROW IT INTO THE POT.

 

ADD ONE CAN OF CORN.  REMEMBER TO DRAIN...

 

 

 

ADD 1/4 CUP OF COCONUT OIL

 

 

 

 

MICROWAVE THE COCONUT OIL FOR 30 SECONDS.

 

 

 

ADD 1.5 CUPS OF CHICKEN BROTH

 

 

SIMMER UNTIL LUKE WARM AND ADD TO THE MIXING BOWL.

ADD 1/2 CUP OF MOLASSES.

STIR EVERYTHING TOGETHER.

 

 

 

THROW SOME FLOUR ON PARCHMENT PAPER.

 

 

 

 

 

LOOKS APPETIZING???  LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING MY DOG LEFT IN THE PARK THE OTHER DAY...

 

 

 

 

ROLL IT OUT AND CUT INTO PIECES.

 

 

PUT THE TRAYS IN THE OVEN AND BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 45 MINUTES.

 

LET COOL AND PLACE ON A PLATE...

Many of the dog treats that you buy in the local pet stores contain Corn syrup.   Corn syrup is the #2 ingredient and is terrible for your dog. Sugar leads to obesity, tooth decay and diabetes in dogs. BHA also know as Butylated Hydroxyanisole is also found in many dog treats.. BHA is a cancer causing agent in humans. This preservative is actually listed by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment as a chemical known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.
