OK. SO HERE IS A GREAT TREAT FOR YOUR FURRY FRIENDS. NOT ONLY IS IT HEALTHY AND TASTY, BUT IT'S A GOOD OLD CLASSIC RENDITION OF WHAT YOUR GRANDMOTHER USED TO MAKE FOR YOU WHEN YOU WERE SICK. OF COURSE, YOU CAN ALWAYS SUBSITUTE SOME OF THE INGREDIENTS FOR YOUR OWN FAVORITE ITEMS. HERE ARE THE INGREDIENTS I USED TO MAKE GRANDMA'S CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP DOG BONES: FLOUR; NOODLES; CHICKEN; CHEESE; WATER; SWEET PEAS; EGGS; BACON; PROGRESSIVE SOUP; CHICKEN / TURKEY
TAKE TWO CUPS OF NOODLES AND TOSS THEM INTO A PAN.
BOIL THE NOODLES.
NOW, LET'S ADD SOME FLOUR. TO BE HONEST, YOU WILL PROBABLY END UP USING 12 CUPS OF FLOUR TO MAKE THIS BATCH. I MADE SO MANY DOG BONES THAT I HAD TO GIVE HALF OF THEM AWAY TO FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. I THINK I MADE OVER 120 BONES FROM THIS ONE BATCH.
I USED ABOUT ONE POUND OF TURKEY AND CHICKEN.
CHOP UP THE CHICKEN AND TURKEY.
GRAB TWO EGGS.
CRACK OPEN THE EGGS; DUMP IN THE CHOPPED MEAT INTO THE BLENDER. ADD A LITTLE WATER.
THROW IN ONE CAN OF SWEET PEAS AND DUMP THE CAN OF PROGRESSIVE NOODLE SOUP INTO THE FOOD PROCESSOR/ BLENDER. YOU MAY NEED A LARGER BLENDER OR YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLICATE THIS PROCESS 2 OR 3 TIMES. AS YOU CAN SEE, MY WIFE HAS A SMALL BLENDER!!!!
BLEND AWAY BABY. COME ON, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!
HEY, IT MAY LOOK LIKE CRAP, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY QUITE TASTY. I SHOULD KNOW, I ALWAYS SAMPLE THE MIXTURE BEFORE BAKING THE DOG TREATS.
BACON. YEP, I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING. "ROBERT, DIDN'T YOU BURN UP YOUR MICROWAVE LAST WEEK?" YES I DID. I BURN THE SHIT OUT OF THE MICROWAVE; HAD TO CALL MY LANDLORD AND LET HIM KNOW. SO, NOW WE HAVE A NEW MICROWAVE.
THROW THE BACON INTO THE MICROWAVE.
I WOULD RECOMMEND PLACING SOME PAPER TOWELS OVER THE BACON AS IT WILL PREVENT EXCESSIVE SPLATTER.
NOTE TO SELF; TRY NOT TO CATCH THE WICROWAVE ON FIRE!!!!
WHILE THE BACON IS COOKING; LET'S WORK ON THE NOODLES. TAKE THE NOODLES OUT OF THE POT AND STRAIN THEM. THROW THEM INTO THE BLENDER AND START MIXING BABY... BLEND THE CRAP OUF OF THE NOODLES.....
OK, SO NOW THE BACON IS READY TO THROW INTO THE BLENDER ALONG WITH THE NOODLES.
DUMP THE BLENDED NOODLES AND BACON MIXTURE INTO THE LARGE MIXING BOWL.
BY THE TIME YOU GET TO THIS STEP, YOU MAY NOTICE THAY THE MIXTURE IS STILL TOO RUNNY. I HAD TO ADD ANOTHER 4 CUPS OF FLOUR TO THE ORIGINAL MIXTURE TO THICKEN THE DOUGH. SO, ALL IN ALL, YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED TO ADD 12 CUPS OR SO OF FLOUR TO MAKE THESE CHICKEN NOODLE DOG BONES.
TIME TO START ROLLING OUT THE DOUGH.. SHOW ME THE DOUGH!!!!!
I DECIDED TO CUT OUT GRANDMA'S CHICKEN NOODLE DOG BONES WITH MY NEW COOKIE CUTTERS. I ORIGINALLY STARTED CUTTING THEM INTO HEART SHAPES BUT GAVE UP THE PROCESS DOWN THE ROAD AS IT TOOK WAY TO LONG.
PLACE THE TRAYS INTO THE PREHEATED OVEN (350 DEGREES FOR 70 MINUTES). THAT'S RIGHT, YOU WILL NEED TO COOK THESE DOG BONES FOR OVER ONE HOUR. 70 MINUTES OF BAKING TIME..
